My Top Blog Posts From 2018

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedintumblrmail

I’ve been writing here at My Cup of Cocoa for a little over 2 years now. I have some regular readers (thanks!) and some new visitors (hello!) and I am grateful to have this little spot to express myself and share ideas with the world. Statistics and numbers have never been my strong point, and I try not to focus on them too much. But, once a year, I do look back to see what has been popular, what fell flat, and try to determine what I should focus on in the future. I thought it might be nice to share what I discovered with my readers. Here are my top blog posts from 2018.

My stats for 2018 were interesting to me, but not really surprising. My book and quote pieces consistently do well. They are two of my passions in life, so maybe I write about them with a little more heart. Or maybe people just share these passions with me. Two posts that took off in popularity were Can I Take a Nap Now? which is about how to recover from the Daylight Savings Time switch in the spring and my piece on lens ball photography. Three older posts from 2017 also made the top eight list.

My Top 8 Blog Posts From 2018

1. 20 Books on My To Read List in 2018

This post took the top spot. Apparently, I’m not the only person with a big reading habit. People like to read and they are always searching for their next favorite book. Stayed tuned in. I’m currently working on my Top to reads for 2019. Check back here next week for that list.

2. Four Legged Inspiration: Dog Quotes

A good quote and a good dog are two of my very favorite things. I combined both in this post from March 2018.  Check out the preview below and then use the link above to read the rest.

3. Best Sites For Bullet Journal Supplies and Inspiration

I wrote this clear back in January 2017. It looks like the popularity of the bullet journal has yet to fade. I still use my bullet journal every day. Maybe I need to write more about that in 2019?

4. It’s a Small World: Taking Photos With a Lens Ball

I was given a lens ball for Mother’s Day in 2018 and immediately began experimenting with it. This post combines my own photos with links to other sites I have found useful.  I have continued to play with the lens ball accessory. I’m trying to come up with a new creative post for 2019.

5. Can I Take a Nap Now?

National Napping Day is in March. It’s always on the Monday following the move to Daylight Savings Time. In 2019, that will be March 11. This post holds the record for the single most views in one day on My Cup of Cocoa. Looks like National Napping Day is one we really need.

6.  For the Love of Books and Mom: 12 Literary Quotes For Mother’s Day

This is another oldie, but goodie. Originally published for Mother’s Day in 2017, my mom quotes post is still going strong. Perhaps it’s because there’s so many readers out their that love a good book quote and also love their mom.

7. and 8. Summer Blog Post Ideas and More Summer Blog Post Ideas

My fellow bloggers are always searching for another idea (or 50) for their next post. One of these was published in 2017 and the other in 2018 and both have had great success. I also wrote an autumn ideas post, which finished in the top 15. I wonder what it is about summer that makes it more popular?

It will be fun to see which posts make my top list in 2019. I am very much looking forward to writing more and learning more and getting to know more of my audience. Here’s to making 2019 a year of learning new things, exploring new places, and having new adventures. Thanks for reading and sharing with me.
