5 Things I’d Do If Money Was Not An Issue

Have you ever dreamed about what you’d do if money was not an issue? I don’t play the lottery or gamble, and, as far as I know, there is not a rich uncle who will leave me an inheritance. But is it still fun to think about what I’d do if money was an unlimited resource.

Originally, I thought I could come up with a much longer list. But really, there aren’t that many things to do with money. Sounds crazy, I know.  Read on, maybe you can come up with some more ideas for me.

If Money Was Not An Issue

1. Travel

My Pinterest “Want to Go Board” is filled with dream locations. If money wasn’t an issue, I’d visit them all and then some. I’d make a return trip to England, visit the small town my grandmother was born in in Sicily, and see the Northern Lights. Trips to Paris, Athens, Tokyo, and Hong Kong would be on my itinerary.  And I would only travel first class. I’ve never done that, but I hear it’s much more comfortable.

I’m also a fan of Disneyland. A season pass for each family member would be one of my first purchases.  We’d go more than once every 5 years like we do now. And we’d stay at a nicer hotel.

2. Donate

There are so many people and good organizations that need support. Many years ago, I read a story about a man from New York who quietly donated money to injured public servants and their families and to other people he heard about on the news who needed help. No one knew he was their secret benefactor until he died and his will was read. As much as I would like to travel, I would love to be able to lift the burdens of people who are suffering loss, pain, and trauma. I like the thought of doing it quietly and in the background.

I would look for organizations that use most of their donations to help other, not line their own pockets. Charitynavigator.org is one site that helps donors research how charities use their money.

If money was not an issue, some of my donations would definitely go to funding medical research. Too many friends and family members have suffered from cancer, Alzheimer’s, and mental health issues. I’d be happy to fund research to find treatments and cures for these terrible diseases.

3. Educate

The cost of higher education has gotten way out of hand. The only way my children will finish college is to take out large loans to pay for it. There was no way we could save enough to pay for three college educations. We live in one of the most expensive places in the United States and we’ve worked in education and non-profits. Not exactly lucrative, but very fulfilling jobs.

If money wasn’t an issue, that burden wouldn’t exist. I wouldn’t worry about how to pay for college. Maybe I could even go back to and finish my education that I began more than 25 years ago. I could also offer scholarships in my community and help fund local school programs.. Education is such an important tool in our modern world. It is frustrating to me when it is not funded the way it should be.

4. Save

Putting money away for the future is also extremely important. You never know when your good luck may run out or your money tree may grow diseased and die. It would be smart to put a significant portion of money away, just in case.

5. Create

When I went to college, I loved to take art classes, but I didn’t think it would lead to a reliable income. I majored in Literature and History instead (go ahead, laugh and shake your head). If money wasn’t an issue, I’d take every art class I ever wanted. I’d buy all those fun art supplies. I’d spend my time creating. Maybe I’d have an Etsy shop in addition to a blog.

I’ve wracked my brain and can’t come up with anything else. What would you do if money wasn’t an issue for you? Please share you ideas below in the comments sections.
